研究報告書（概要版）

研究目的

アジア諸国の肝炎・肝癌の制御。

研究方法

1.専門領域の基礎研究、2.米国研究者との研究協力、及び 3.アジア諸国研究者との研究協力により、上記目的の達成に努力した。

結果と考察

1. 基礎研究に於いては、HCV感受性ヒト肝細胞の樹立、HCV NS5Bの蛋白質レベルでの構造と機能がviral genotypesにより異なる可能性の示唆、HCVコア蛋白によるミトコンドリア機能の修飾がHCVの病原性発現に深く關與している可能性の示唆、フィリピン・タンザニア・インド・モンゴル・中国・ソロモン諸島等に於けるHBV感染の分子疫學的実態の解明、HEVの病原性がviral genotypesにより有意に異なっている可能性の示唆、等の成果が得られた。
2.　米国との研究協力に於いては、HBVの薬剤耐性に關與するviral genome mutationsのライブラリーを日米共同で構築する試みが緒に就いた。
3. アジア諸国との連繋については、第28囘日米合同肝炎部會會議をAsia-Pacific Association for Study of the Liver (APASL) と共同開催したことにより、アジア諸国のヘパトロジスト達との接点を更に強化する成果が得られた。

結論

本研究は、日米醫學協力研究會（USJCMSP）肝炎部會（以下『日米肝炎』と略す）の活動の一環として實施された。日米肝炎が、亜細亜に特に蔓延する肝炎ウイルスとしてB型とE型（HBV, HEV）を、将来の感染拡大が懸念される肝炎ウイルスとしてC型（HCV）を主要標的として定めたことに呼應し、本研究班の今年度の研究活動も主に此の三種に關するものであった。
